Kumusta! Sunday Surprise incoming (9th April)
It's that time again for the weekly dose of random
Kumusta!
That’s Filipino for “hello”. Welcome to the first “normal” newsletter on the new Substack platform. We’ll be tweaking things here and there since this place has MUCH more room for customisation and interactivity.
First things first: I’m sure you saw the “pay for the newsletter” button and thought WTF?! The newsletter is remaining free but the way Substack works is by collecting % from paid newsletters to keep the service running. So ONLY if you WANT to, consider subscribing to show your support.
On the note of new things, there’s a new referral button. If you’re liking the new format, send it to someone who’d love the newsletter! It helps grow the newsletter and means a lot!
Weekly update
Busy weeks seem to be the norm over here, so I’ll stop calling them “busy” unless it’s exceptionally so. This week was more…chaotic. Well, the last 2 weeks I should say. It’s been the season for weddings like last Sunday, followed by work and general lethargy that comes from Ramadan.
This week was a bit better. However, there was a last minute invite from Samsung Australia to attend their new Audio-Visual Launch in Sydney.
More on all that over on the blog.

SkillShare - 1 month free
SkillShare is one of my favourite way to get up to speed on little skills. My recent foray was an intro into typography. The SkillShare class took me through the basics so that I could design the graphics that little bit better.
There’s short classes on almost everything from photography, design, to cooking and more! The link below will give you unlimited access for a month and if you decide to continue, use code AFF40D23 for 40% off.

randInt - Alex Ellis: Zigzagging into launching BluePrint Medical
We have another interview-sode this time with the one and only Alex Ellis. Alex is the co-founder of BluePrint Medical which specialises in medical recruitment. However, his journey starts as a Special Constable in Brighton UK and meanders through a bunch of different fields.
If you think you’ve had a bad first day at your job, you HAVE to listen to the first segment where he describes starting on the beat as a police officer.

Tuya Smart fingerprint door lock*
Ok, this is my nerdy side coming out in full swing! This replaced my normal door handle to the bedroom/study area of my apartment with a thumbprint/PIN enabled handle. Unlike some of the other smart door locks, this doesn’t actually stand out too much.
Now, I’m no handy man, bit with a bit of elbow greasy, I was able to take off my old door handle and install this one in about ~30-45mins. It’s battery powered with app control, PIN code, fingerprint or physical key access in case everything else fails.
Weekly Quote
Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.
